For most of my life, I’ve had my head and my heart full of words and pictures. I loved to write… to write of my experiences, to write my thoughts, to write about my life here and beyond …… You could say writing has been my first great passion. However, over the past ten years, I have exchanged text for visual imagery, using a camera and digital art to express my poetry, my self and my journey. Three years ago, I was offered a place in a beautiful little Cafe in my home town to be their “Cafe Poet”. Unfortunately, due to being more than just a little rusty with words (you know it’s really true that old adage “use it or lose it!!) and a long unexplained illness, including a stroke, I struggle to put words together as eloquently as they sound inside my own head. However, I am exploring my ‘words’ again. As you will see, I don’t go far without my camera, so a large part of my blogs will resort to imagery. My original Cafe Poet blog ( http://isunshiine.wordpress.com/2011/09/ ) has been concluded, and this new one continues by exploring my thoughts along various themes, as well as recording the poems and scribbles (including the odd sketch or two) left in our poetry notebooks on the tables at the Tearooms. The Old Post Office Tearooms continued to play a major part in my creative journey, as well as delivering heartfelt old fashioned fare together with human kindness on a plate until late 2013 ….. but sadly, the Tearooms closed its doors in November 2013 marking the end of an era – We can only but hope the warmth, heart and soul that was Brenda’s trademark style returns one day to our Artgeo cultural complex!
